Today was a giddy up and go type day around WPES! Have I mentioned that our kids are THE BEST?!?!?! They know just how to add a little fun into the day of learning and make it a spectacular day of fun. Thanks to the parents that helped their child participate in todays fun! The PTO and the faculty thank you all! Hopefully the pictures will let you see just how much fun we all had.

This is our first group of Star Students for this year. Each month teachers select a student that has shown "Star" qualities while in class and around the campus. Our students work hard to earn this status and are recognized in many ways! Mrs. Bartlett treats each student to a prize along with posting their picture and some information about them that they provide. These bios can be found in the hall right outside of the library. They will be there for the entire month until our next month's students are selected. This is a BIG honor! Congratulations kids! Keep on doing what you are doing and you'll be sure to have an excellent year.
Today we all dressed in our Red, White and Blue to pay tribute to those that lost their lives and loved ones 12 years ago on 9/11. That day will forever live in our memories, for those of us that can recall that actual day. Today we have spoken with our students and helped them realize just exactly what happened and how our Nation pulled together to support each other. I was moved this morning when I arrived to find so many of our students wearing their red, white, and blue with a HUGE smile on their face. They were so proud to be sporting their American colors! That is what it is all about! Another great moment in my day was around 11:00. Our 5th grade class all brought balloons and participated in a moment of silence as they released the balloons and thought of those that were affected. That was a great moment for myself and for those 5th grade students. Thank you Mrs. Glover for allowing me to witness and participate in this activity. To see the video of this moment, check out our schools FB page!
A huge thank you goes out to the parents for helping their children remember to dress for the occasion. Below are some pictures from our day.
Our school was selected by East Gadsden Walmart to participate in the Teacher Rewards Program for this year. What that means is they selected our teachers/staff to receive $50.00 gift cards as a way to say "thank you". So, they arrived bright and early Thursday morning to award 20 of our teachers their gift! The names were drawn at random by our SRO. All the teachers and students were excited about hearing if their name would be drawn! Those that were, were extremely excited and had huge smiles on their faces! Check out a few pictures of how excited they all were!
Thank you Walmart for an awesome gift and a great way to start a Thursday!

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful Representative!! Rep. Craig Ford came through for us again here at WPES. We were in desperate need of a new Flag to fly out in front of our building and guess who made that happen???? You got it! Rep. Craig Ford!!!
Rep. Ford, we can't thank you enough for what you do for us! Not only with the presentation of a new flag, but the many other things you do to help support education! The faculty, staff, and students here at WPES thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Mrs. Ramey had a blast today working with her class on mixing colors. They enjoyed reading the book "The Color Kittens", but the fun only continued. After enjoying the story, they mixed up different colors of icing and then got to ice their own cupcake! Needless to say.... fun was had!!!! We LOVE to see our kiddos actively involved in their learning experience and loving every minute of it!
Great job students!
